Campground Closure - CCC Campground, CCC Maah Daah Hey Trailhead, and Long X Trailhead

PROHIBITIONS

Pursuant to 16 U.S.C. § 551, 36 C.F.R. § 261.50(a), the following acts are prohibited on the National Forest System (NFS) lands in the McKenzie Ranger District, Dakota Prairie Grassland, described below and shown on the attached map incorporated into this Order as Attachment A (the “Described Area”):

1. Going into or being upon an area closed for public health and safety. 36 C.F.R. § 261.53.

EXEMPTIONS:

Pursuant to 36 CFR 261.50(e), the following persons are exempt from this Order:

1. Persons with a permit specifically authorizing the otherwise prohibited act or omission.
2. Any Federal, State, or local officer, or member of an organized rescue or fire fighting force in the performance of an official duty.
3. Persons with a Forest Service special use authorization for an electric transmission line, an oil or gas pipeline, communications site, or any other non-recreation special use.
4. Owners or lessees of land, to the extent necessary to access their land.

DESCRIBED AREA:

The closure applies to the area, shown in Attachment A, within Section 3, Township 147N, Range 99W and surrounding the National Forest System CCC Campground, the Maah Daah Hey Trailhead, and Long X Trailhead at CCC Campground, including the CCC Campground loop roads.

PURPOSE:

This closure is for public safety due to the campground being under construction beginning on July 15^th, 2024 to May 23^rd, 2025. The construction includes upgrading gravel road within the campground, camping sites, vault toilets, horse corrals, fire rings, and picnic tables.

IMPLEMENTATION:

This order will be in effect on November 15^th, 2024 and shall remain in effect until May 23^rd, 2025 or until the order is rescinded.

These prohibitions are in addition to the general prohibitions in 36 C.F.R. Part 261, Subpart B.

VIOLATION:

Violation of these prohibitions is punishable by a fine of not more than $5,000 for an individual or $10,000 for an organization, imprisonment for not more than 6 months, or both. (16 U.S.C. §551 and 18 U.S.C. §§ 3559, 3571(b)(6) and 3581(b)(7)).
