Mokelumne Wilderness Year-Round Fire Restrictions

The use restrictions for the Mokelumne Wilderness now prohibit campfires year-round in all areas of the Mokelumne Wilderness. 

This is due to overall warmer, drier conditions with greater fire risk, difficult access for fire suppression, increasing public use, and resource damage from collecting firewood and building fire pits.  Gas stoves are permitted with a California Campfire Permit.   

Desolation Wilderness also prohibits campfires year-round.
