  • Shovel Firewood Area reopens 9/1/2019

    The Goosenest Ranger District will re-open the Shovel Firewood Area on September 1, 2019 for personal-use firewood cutting.  The area is located near Lodgepole Station and Martin's Dairy Campground on the east side of the Forest.  Permits are required.

    An additional firewood unit has been added on the south end of the project area near Martin's Dairy Campgound.  Check the map for 2019 Designated Cutting Areas.

    Please remember to always practice fire prevention and be careful to avoid starting a wildfire while cutting personal-use firewood.

    Permits, information, and firewood cutting maps are available at the Forest Supervisor's Office at 1711 S Main St in Yreka, CA and at the Goosenest Ranger District office at 37805 Highway 97 in Macdoel, CA.  For more information call 530-842-6131.
