  • Status of Williams River Road

Williams River Road (Forest Route 86) remains closed to motor vehicle traffic from Tea Creek Campground to White Oak Bridge, due to concerns for public safety. This section is open to nonmotorized travel (foot, horseback and bicycles). At this point, it is unknown when we will be able to open this section to vehicle travel. We are continuing to explore temporary repairs that could reopen the road until permanent repairs begin.

Flooding on Williams River in 2016 resulted in extensive damage to bridges, culverts, road shoulders and the road surface. Forest Service managers continue to work with Federal Highway Administration on designs for permanent repairs. Designs and subsequent construction could take two years or more to complete.

Please see the closure order for more information and a map.
