  • Forest Road 251 Open in Pocahontas County - Caution Advised

Forest Road 251, also known as Crooked Fork Road, north of Marlinton in Pocahontas County is now open. Visitors who plan to use this road are encouraged to be cautious. About 81 acres of forest along this road were damaged when a windstorm came through in April 2020. Hazards remain even now, including trees laying on the ground in a multitude of directions, leaning trees, hanging branches, and broken off trees and stumps. Trees or heavy limbs could fall at any time, especially during high winds.

You may collect firewood along the road in this area if you have a permit, but do not enter the area of the blowdown. For more information contact the Marlinton-White Sulphur Ranger District at 304-799-4334.
