  • Some Forest Roads Still Snowbound

While most forest roads are passable as snow melts, some roads are still snowbound. A few roads, such as Cloud Cap Inn Road (3512), are still impassable and unsafe for passenger vehicles. Road and weather conditions are rapidly changing this time of year. Vehicles can easily become stuck when driven on snow-packed or muddy roads. If you encounter snow, DO NOT PRESS ON. Turn around!

Many winter road closures are now lifted. Still, it is normal for trees to be down on many of our trails this time of year, and the forest is experiencing even more blowdowns than usual. Please use caution. Always carry extra water & food, and let someone know of your travel plans. There are many areas where cell phone coverage is not available.

Please report hazards to your nearest forest office. https://www.fs.usda.gov/detail/mthood/about-forest/offices
