  • Uwharrie National Forest Road Maintenance

On July 15, road maintenance work will begin on several Forest Service roads on the Uwharrie National Forest. Work is expected to last through the summer with the duration of work dependent on weather.

Work to be completed includes culvert replacements, clearing and grubbing, grading, stone placement, and road reconstruction. Overall, there will be some minor traffic delays with a few temporary road closures for the culvert replacements.

Contractors will use large trucks and heavy equipment. Visitors can expect increased traffic and should use caution in the area.

This road maintenance will repair damage that occurred during Hurricane Florence in the fall of 2018, which caused significant damage to multiple forest roads. USDA Forest Service funding for this project was supplemented by a grant from the North Carolina Recreation Trails Program.
