  • Restroom facilities limited

Facilities and services are limited at many sites. At locations where restroom facilities are still closed there may be portable toilets available for visitor use. Due to limited services and high use the Forest Service recommends visitors bring their own supplies for going to the bathroom while visiting the forest. Recommended supplies include extra toilet paper, soap and water, and/or hand sanitizer. Please remember to practice Leave No Trace Principles and Pack Out what you Pack In.

If restrooms are not availble visitors are encouraged to use the Cat Hole method for waste disposal. Locate cat holes at least 200 feet from water, trails, and camp. Select an inconspicuous site where other people will be unlikely to walk or camp. Dig the hole 6-8 inches deep and 4-6 inches in diameter. When you are done, refill the hole with the original dirt and pack out any toilet paper used.
