• Cheoah RD: NCDOT highway improvements will affect AT users

  Robbinsville, NC, January 25, 2023 – The Corridor K Highway Improvement Project in the vicinity of Robbinsville, NC will affect Appalachian Trail users crossing the highway at Stecoah Gap.  Passage across US Highway 143 will be possible during construction, but trail users may be delayed while waiting for vehicles to pass and permission from road flaggers to safely proceed across the highway.  It is expected that these delays will occur for at least two years.  For additional information and maps of the project area, please refer to the project website at:
