  • Temporary Camping Restrictions along Highway 260 and Salt Mine Road Corridor

Camping restrictions along Highway 260 and Salt Mine Road corridor in the Verde Valley started January 7, 2019 and remain in effect until January 7, 2021.  Unrestricted camping in the area lead to occupancy exceeding the land's capacity to remain healthy; campers ignoring the 14-day stay limit; excessive quantities of trash and feces left behind; illegal dump sites; and criminal activity.  This action aims to protect public safety and health, and conserve and protect natural resources. For more information, please see the 12/13/18 news releaseForest Order No. 09-249, and map. Forest personnel discuss the rationale and future implications of the temporary camping restrictions on Verde Valley TV on 2/26/19: Video
