PHOENIX, Nov. 19, 2020 –Tonto National Forest officials will lift the Griffin Fire public safety closure order at 8 a.m., Friday, Nov. 20, 2020.
The closure order was implemented to protect public health and safety. Following the fire, Burned Area Emergency Response (BAER) teams conducted assessments to identify impacts on the landscape from both fires and recommended actions for mitigation and management of the burned areas to protect the health and safety of forest visitors and to prevent additional resource damage. The BAER team final report recommended emergency response actions that include the installation of warning signs and repair of fire impacted infrastructure.
PHOENIX, Nov. 10, 2020 –The Tonto National Forest in coordination with federal, state, and local partners will terminate the current Stage 1 Fire Restrictions and recreational shooting restriction effective Nov. 11, 2020 at 8 a.m. due to recent moisture, cooler temperatures and reduced fire activity.
Prohibits the entering or using of developed recreation sites or portion thereof
The purpose of this Order, which reflects federal and state guidance to limit the spread of COVID- 19, is to protect public health and safety.
This Order will be effective on September 11, 2020, at 06:00 a.m., and will remain in effect until September 10 , 2021, or until rescinded, whichever occurs first.
Pursuant to 16 U.S.C. § 551 and 36 C.F.R. § 261.50(a), the following acts are prohibited on all National Forest System lands within the Tonto National Forest in, Maricopa, Gila, Yavapai, and Pinal Counties, Arizona and as depicted on the Map attached hereto as Exhibit A.
Possessing or using a vehicle off any National Forest System Road. 36 CFR §261.56.
Operating any type of vehicle that does not comply with the Motor Vehicle Code for that state. 36 CFR 261.54 (a)
Operating any type of vehicle in a manner inconsistent with the Motor Vehicle Code for that state. 36 CFR 261.54 (b)
Using a road for commercial hauling without a permit or written authorization. 36 CFR 261.54 (c)
Operating a vehicle in violation of the Motor Vehicle Code for that state. 36 CFR 261.54 (d)
Being on the road while operating any type of vehicle in violation of the Motor Vehicle Code for that state. 36 CFR 261.54 (e)
Operating any type of vehicle carelessly, recklessly, or without regard for the rights or safety of other persons or in a manner or at a speed that would endanger or be likely to endanger any person or property. 36 CFR 261.54 (f)
Doak Road (Forest Road 221) on the south side of the Pinal Mountains near Globe is impassable because of landslide. The Landslide is located on FR 221 about one and one half miles from the junction with FR 651, just above Mill Creek. The road will remain impassable until crews are in the area and can remove the landslide.
PHOENIX, Nov. 24, 2020 – Tonto National Forest officials have modified the Bush Fire public safety area closure order to allow more access. The modified closure order will be in effect Wednesday, Nov. 25, 8 a.m.
The closure area is being modified in response to cooler temperatures and reduced fire danger. Moderate rainfall still has the potential to produce debris flows that could cause significant injury or death. Recreational users are encouraged to check weather conditions before venturing out into the forest. This order shall remain in effect until March 15, 2021, or until rescinded, whichever occurs first.
Rattlesnake Cove Fishing Dock in the Rattlesnake Cove Recreation site is closed for public health and safety until repairs are made and the structures are safe.
This Order will be effective on October 28, 2020 at 12:00 p.m. and shall remain in effect until October 27,2021, or until rescinded.
The Tonto Basin Ranger District will implement a public safety recreation closure order along Roosevelt Lake to protect recreational visitors beginning Oct. 9, 2020.
The purpose of this order is to protect public health and safety due to flooding concerns for persons recreating or camping in the area. Campsite closures include Orange Peel, Bermuda Flat, Cholla Bay and Bachelors Cove. This order will be effective on October 9, 2020, at 6 a.m. and shall remain in effect until March 15, 2021, or until rescinded, whichever occurs first.
Pursuant to 16 U.S.C. § 551 and 36 C.F.R. § 261.50(a) and (b), the following acts are prohibited on all National Forest System lands as described in this Order (the "Restricted Areas"), and as depicted on the attached maps, hereby incorporated into this Order as Exhibit A1, and A2, all within the Tonto National Forest, within the State of Arizona
Going into or being upon the Restricted Area. 36 C.F.R. § 261.52(e).
Pursuant to 16 USC § 551 and 36 CFR § 261.50 (a) and (b), the following acts and omissions are prohibited on the areas and roads described in this Order, and as depicted on the attached map hereby incorporated into this Order as Exhibit A, the “Pinto Valley Mine Blasting Closure Area”, all within the Globe Ranger District, Tonto National Forest, Gila County, Arizona:
Going into or being upon the area described in the Order. 36 CFR § 261.53(e)
The purpose of the Order is to protect sensitive riparian areas and other Forest resources and values while organizing and managing recreational OHV use.
Implementation
This Order becomes effective at 12:00 pm (noon) on April 22, 2019, and shall remain in effect until April 21, 2024, or until rescinded, whichever occurs first.
