Pile burning in effect

Alert

Pile burning is underway across the Willamette National Forest to reduce fire fuels during the cool, damp fall weather. Trained firefighting personnel will ignite piles of wooded debris and slash while fire danger is low and monitor them to ensure fire does not spread outside the immediate vicinity.

Piles on the Detroit, Sweet Home, and Middle Fork Ranger Districts are anticipated to be ignited around 10am. Smoke will be visible for the next few days as the piles continue to burn down. Please call your local ranger district with any questions.
