Multnomah Falls Lodge

For many, Multnomah Falls is their first or most memorable experience in the Columbia River Gorge. The U.S. Forest Service manages the landscape and operates the small information center at Multnomah Falls, located at the ground level of Multnomah Falls Lodge. Brochures and maps of the Columbia River Gorge and Pacific Northwest, as well as Northwest Forest Passes, are available. The lodge also includes a restuarant, snack bar, and gift shop operated by a concessionaire. Call (503) 695-2372 or visit http://www.multnomahfallslodge.com/ for menus, operating hours, and more details.

Directions: Located 15 minutes east of Troutdale, Oregon, it can be reached by the Columbia Gorge Express bus which runs from Portland's Gateway center, Cascade Locks, and Hood River or by car via Exit 31 of I-84. During the busy summer season, the parking lot closes frequently when it fills and drivers are redirected to nearby Rooster Rock for a shuttle service.

Skamania Lodge Visitor Center

Skamania Lodge was constructed shortly after the designation of the National Scenic Area and the U.S. Forest Service still operates a small, seasonal information desk each summer where the public can find brochures, maps, recreation passes, and books. Visit http://www.skamania.com or call (509) 427-2528 to make reservations or learn more about the restaurant or recreational activities.

Directions: From WA highway 14 in Stevenson, Washington, head north on Skamania Lodge Way. Address: 131 SW Skamania Lodge Way, Stevenson, WA 98648
