Directions to Our Forests

Looking for excitement or a place to relax?  Find your place in one of the developed campgrounds and get more out of life!

Bankhead National Forest

  • Clear Creek Recreation Area - From Cullman, travel West on Highway 278 for 23 miles to Addison.  Turn South on County Road 41 for 15 miles.  Turn Right on "Whittemore Road".  Go straight at yield sign, turn right at stop sign at second intersection.  Go straight into Park. From Jasper, travel 5 miles North on State Road 195 to Manchester, 8.5 miles North on County Road 27 to entrance.
  • Brushy Lake Recreation Area - From Moulton, travel 10 miles South on State Road 33.  Five miles East on Forest Service Road 246. 
  • Corinth Recreation Area - From Double Springs, travel 8 miles East on Highway 278, turn right at Corinth Recreation Area sign on County Road 57.  Follow signs to recreation area.
  • Houston Recreation Area - From Double Springs, travel 10 miles East on US 278, 2 miles South on County Road 63, 2 miles Southwest on County Road 64, then 1 mile West on Forest Service Road 118.

Conecuh National Forest

  • Open Pond Recreation Area - From Andalusia, travel 10 miles Southwest on US 29, 5 miles South on State Road 137, 1/2 mile East on County Road 24, then 1 mile Southeast on Forest Service Road 336.

Talladega National Forest, Oakmulgee District

  • Payne Lake Recreation Area - From Centreville, travel 2 miles West on US 82, South on State Road 5 for 6 miles, West on State Road 25 for 15 miles.

Talladega National Forest, Shoal Creek District

  • Coleman Lake Recreation Area - From Heflin, travel US 78 Northeast 8 1/2 miles, turn left on Cleburne County Road 61 for 8 1/2 miles, turn right on the first paved road and follow signs to Coleman Lake.
  • Pine Glen Recreation area - From Heflin, travel US 78 for 2 1/2 miles, 8 miles North on Forest Service Road 500 in Choccolocco Wildlife Management Aras. 
  • Warden Station Horse Camp - From Heflin, Travel US 78 Northeast for 8 1/2 miles, turn left on Cleburne County Road 61 for 8 1/2 miles, turn right on the first paved road.  Entrance to the the camp will be on the right.

Talladega National Forest, Talladega District

  • Lake Chinnabee Recreation Area - From Talladega, travel 7 miles Northeast on State Road 21, 12 miles East on County Road 96, 2 miles Southwest on Forest Service Road 646.
