  • Burn Ban Modification Notice!!!! Visitors at the Bankhead National Forest (Bankhead District) are restricted from using fire or building campfires outside of developed recreation areas. The only approved fires at developed recreation areas must be confined to receptacles designed for fire. Commercially available fuel stoves (camp stoves) and backpacking stoves are excluded from the restriction. Forest Service officials are also prohibiting possessing, discharging or using any kind of firework or pyrotechnic device. The following public restrictions are effective on November 30, 2023 and will remain in effect until terminated by a Forest Supervisor
  • Recreation areas on Bankhead: Corinth, Clear Creek and Brushy Day Bath House are open.
  • Houston Day Use is Open.
  • Brushy Lake Bathhouse is Open.
  • Check the motor vehicle use maps for open roads

  • The Forest Service Road Strike Team has Completed Road Maintenance on Forest Service Roads 708,170,716,717,727,728,732,742,743,and 704B, as well as Hale 53 and Clary Hill Roads. The Strike Team will begin road maintenance on the East side of the District starting July 6th, 2023. Temporary road blocks may be implemented. Please plan your route accordingly.

Talladega, AL

  • All seasonal roads should be open on the Talladega National Forest - Talladega Ranger District as of 9/29/23.
  • The Kentuck Trail will be closed for the season from January 1 through April 1, 2024.
  • Forest Service does not hold an easement or right-of-way of record across the Southeastern Land Group property located at the intersection of Skyline Drive and Union T. Road - commonly referred to as Forest Service Road 600-2 - in Talladega County.
  • Emergency closure of FSR 651 (entire road) is closed immediately for repairs after impacts from weather events.
  • Check the motor vehicle use maps for open roads.

  • 916 closed for the long-term, had a 60” culvert blow out. 900 closed from AL 186 to the intersection of 906, currently flooded. 906 closed from 900 to 910, significant flooding at Choctafaula Cr drainage. 937 closed from US 29 to 938 due to significant flooding.
  • The south end of FSR 930 just north of the Pleasant Hill Trailhead is temporarily closed due to two washouts along the roadway.
  • Due to recent personnel changes, the range of walk-in services offered at the Tuskegee NF office will be limited for now. This change will include the sale or issuance of Interagency passes, Senior passes, Military passes, etc., and map sales. Please call the Tuskegee office at 334-727-2652 before visiting for these types of services so that we can make arrangements to serve you. Many of these services are available online or at the Supervisor’s Office at 2946 Chestnut St., Montgomery, AL 36107 or 334-832-4470. We apologize for any inconvenience that this may cause.
