Alabama Resource Advisory Committee is Seeking Proposals for Title II Funding Deadline to Submit Proposals is July 28

(Montgomery, Ala.) July 17 ---- The deadline of July 28 is fast approaching to submit proposals to the Alabama Resource Advisory Committee (RAC).  The RAC will be accepting and reviewing applications for projects that enhance forest ecosystems, or restore and improve land health and water quality on the Bankhead and Talladega National Forests in Winston, Lawrence and Clay counties. Alabama counties, communities, fish, wildlife and watershed interest groups, partners, stakeholders and the Forest Service can submit project proposals. Project submission forms are available on the Forest Service website at for RAC Project Application (electronic version) or RAC Project Application (hardcopy) – Mail to USDA Forest Service, Attn: RAC, 2946 Chestnut Street, Montgomery, AL. 36107.

            The RAC committee will have over $146,000 (Title II funds) to spend on projects. Funds are made available through the Secure Rural Schools and Community Self-Determination Act. According to Designated Federal Official Tammy Freeman Brown, projects must be located on national forests located in Winston, Lawrence and Clay counties that elected Title II funding. Proposals can benefit forest lands, such as road, trail and infrastructure maintenance, or restoration, maintenance and improvement of wildlife and fish habitat.  Projects can be completed by Forest Service personnel, through partnership agreements or by open-bid contracting with individuals and corporations.
