Forest Service Hosts Alabama Resource Advisory Committee

(Montgomery, Ala.) July 26 ----On July 31, 2017, the U.S Forest Service will host a federally designated Secure Rural Schools Resource Advisory Committee (RAC) meeting at the USDA Forest Service Office located at 2946 Chestnut Street, Montgomery, Ala. 36107 from 8:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

The purpose of the meeting is to review and make recommendations regarding proposed projects that will benefit resources on national forests. Projects can maintain infrastructure, improve the health of watersheds and ecosystems, protect communities and strengthen local economies.

The meeting is open to the public. Written comments and requests for time to make oral comments must be sent to Lisa Kamnikar, Alabama RAC Coordinator, 2946 Chestnut Street Montgomery, Alabama 36107; by email to lkamnikar@fs.fed.us, or via facsimile to 334–241–8111.

The Secure Rural Schools RAC consists of 15 people throughout the state that provide advice and recommendations to the Forest Service on the development and implementation of special projects as authorized under the Secure Rural Schools and Community Self-Determination Act, Public Law 110-343.
