Bankhead National Forest Public Notification

The increasing popularity of Caney Creek Falls has resulted in overcrowding and parking access challenges.  The Forest Service is asking the public to help spread the word to choose other waterfalls to view such as Kinlock and Payne Creek Falls to reduce the parking access and impacts into Caney Creek Falls.  It is so important that visitors understand the rules before visiting to know where parking on national forest is allowed.  It may require hikes into the Forest to see a waterfall; but preparation is the key. Another tip is to choose other times when visitation is not as high.  Contact the district office or check the website for on-line maps that will display parking access to popular attractions.  The Forest Service  is dedicated to working with our Forest neighbors and the Winston County Commission to ensure national forest visitors have a safe experience.
