The Allegheny National Forest will be closing all motorized trails for the summer season effective Sunday, September 30, 2018.  The Marienville Ranger District will, however, reopen some trails and roads for two special events in October:

  • Several Forest Service roads and portions of the Penoke ATV/OHM Trail will be open for the Marienville Volunteer Fire Company’s Tour De Forest fundraising event. Roads will be open 12:01 a.m. October 6 through 6:00 p.m. October 7. Access will be restricted to registered event participants. More information on this event can be found at:

  • Enjoy the fall colors! The Timberline and Marienville ATV/OHM Trails will be open for enthusiasts to enjoy the fall colors from 8:00 a.m. on Friday, October 12 until midnight on Sunday, October 14.  As a reminder, visitors should exercise caution keeping in mind there are hunters in the woods at this time of the year.

In support of the Tour De Forest and fall foliage season, the Marienville Ranger District office will be open Saturday, October 6 and Saturday, October 13 from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (closed from 12:00 p.m. to 12:30 p.m.).

The winter ATV/OHM trail season should reopen in December if temperatures are cold enough to freeze the ground. The only trails that may be open for the winter season are Rocky Gap, Timberline, and Marienville ATV/OHM Trails.
