Forest Service accepting public comments on Yette Project

News Release: Yette Project

Bradford, Pa. (February 12, 2020) — The USDA Forest Service is initiating an environmental analysis of the 29,410-acre Yette Project, located in Hamilton, Hamlin, Lafayette, and Wetmore Townships, McKean County, Pennsylvania.

The Yette Project, located on the Allegheny National Forest’s (ANF) Bradford Ranger District (see attached map), will bring the project area into better balance with goals and objectives identified in the ANF Land and Resource Management Plan, also known as the Forest Plan.

Within the project area, proposed actions will include:

  • Improvements to forest health through tree harvesting and reforestation
  • Treatment of non-native invasive plants
  • Stream restoration
  • Fishery and wildlife habitat improvements
  • Adding roads to the Forest Service transportation system
  • Decommissioning roads
  • Improvements to existing roads
