Invite the Forest Service to Your Event!

Would you like to have Smokey Bear come to your public event?  Are you interested smokey bear pointingin having the Forest Service be an exhibitor at your job fair? We'd love to come and share our wildfire prevention, conservation, or general forest information at your event!  The Angeles National Forest is now accepting requests for U.S. Forest Service participation in public information events. This new process will streamline requests and allow the Angeles National Forest to evaluate the availability of Forest Service staff or volunteers and supplies to fulfill each request.

Important Notice:

  • Please submit your requests at least one month before the event to increase the likelihood of Forest Service participation.
  • Requests will be reviewed on a weekly basis. All efforts will be made to provide a response within 2 weeks of receiving a request.
  • Disclaimer: We reserve the right to cancel or not fulfill a request at any time for any reason.

Resources Available

The Angeles National Forest has a variety of resources that can be utilized during your event along with employees or volunteer staff. From bringing Woodsy Owl, Smokey Bear,  to staffing a booth with Forest Service employees or volunteers, we hope you consider the Angeles National Forest for your public engagement events. The following supplies and pamphlets may be available for public events:

Forest General Information: table display with forest map, local animal pelts, and replica skulls. Pamphlets: Recreation Opportunity Guides; day use and camping areas, hiking trails, Off-Highway Vehicle use areas, career info, Recreation.gov info, fishing, winter sports.

Fire Prevention/Safety: fire prevention knowledge spinning wheel or toss games. Pamphlets: campfire safety, home defensible space “how to”, forest fire danger rating info, "One Less Spark…," Smokey Bear, and fire safety giveaways.

Environmental Education: local animals pelts and replica skulls and Woodsy Owl’s ABCs increases your children’s awareness of the world around them. Pamphlets: forest environmental education at visitor centers, activity sheets, coloring sheets, "Natural Inquirer" books.

Job recruitment and outreach: How to apply and where; talk with professionals about what they do and how they got there. Pamphlets: USAjobs and Wildland Fire

Please be advised that not all event requests will be fulfilled due to limited staffing availability and resources, but we encourage you to continue reaching out to us with your event participation requests.
