Mount Evans Recreation Area Fee Schedule
 

Fees collected support visitor services, operation and maintenance of facilities, new facilities, interpretive signs and programs. Fees do not support maintenance of the Mount Evans Road. Highway 5 is maintained by the Colorado Department of Transportation. A standard amenity recreation fee is required at Mount Goliath Natural Area and the Summit of Mount Evans Interpretive Site. The City of Denver also charges a fee for entering Summit Lake Park, which is part of its Denver Mountain Parks system. For visitor convenienve, both fees are available for purchase at the Mount Evans Welcome Station.

While the road is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week (weather permitting) the fee is only required during daily hours of operation: 8:00 AM to 6:30 PM.

Vehicle passes and personal passes are valid for three consecutive days. All passes are available for purchase at the Mount Evans Welcome Station, located at the entrance to the Mount Evans Recreation Area on Colorado Highway 5, near Echo Lake. Credit cards are accepted for the purchase of recreation passes. Self-serve pay stations and fee tubes are also available at each of the fee sites. 

Mount Evans Recreation Area Regulations

Pass Required: A valid recreation pass must be displayed when parked at Mount Goliath Natural Area, Summit Lake Park and the Summit of Mount Evans Interpretive Site during hours of operations. Passes are available for purchase at the Mount Evans Welcome Station or self-serve pay stations and fee tubes are also available at each of the fee sites. 

Camping and Campfires: Camping is prohibited within one-half mile of the Mount Evans corridor and the entire Summit Lake Flats – 36 CFR 261.58(e). Building, maintaining, attending, or using a fire, campfire, or stove fire is prohibited within the Mount Goliath Natural Area, one-half mile of the Mount Evans corridor and the entire Summit Lake Flats– 36 CFR 261.52(a).

Dogs must be on a leash six feet in length or less – 36 CFR 261.58(s).

Hunting is prohibited within one-half mile of the Mount Evans Road – Colorado Division of Wildlife Regulations Article XI-Special Restrictions #20-E, paragraph 5.

Feeding or attracting wildlife is prohibited – Colorado Parks and Wildlife Regulations Article XI-Special Restrictions #21-A.
