Celebrate Get Outdoors Day with Our Trailhead Grand Opening

Contact(s): Reghan Cloudman

Fort Collins, Colo. (June 8, 2011) – In honor of National Get Outdoors Day, join the Canyon Lakes Ranger District of the Roosevelt National Forest to celebrate our newly constructed trailheads near Red Feather Lakes, Colo., on June 11 at 10 a.m. at the Mount Margaret Trailhead,  located north of Larimer County Road 74E.

Everyone is invited to witness the ribbon cutting, meet some of the district’s staff and volunteers and learn what they do, and then hike one of the trails. Both the Poudre Wilderness Volunteers and the Overland Bike Patrol will be on hand to discuss their programs.

The Mount Margaret, Lady Moon, Elkhorn, and Molly Lake trailheads have been improved to provide greater amenities to visitors, including parking lot enhancements and restrooms. These four trailhead reconstructions are part of a larger project that will include new trails and trail improvements, benefiting our natural resources and users. This area provides hiking opportunities for all ages.

Volunteers will also work on this trail system as part of the district’s annual National Public Lands Day event on September 24, 2011.
