Distinguishing Features

  • Grows up to 6 feet tall
  • Leaves are bright to gray-green; toothed to entire; basil leaves larger than upper leaves; leaves have prominent whitish midvein
  • Small white flowers in dense clusters near the ends of branches
  • Two seeds in rounded, flattened, and slightly hairy reddish-brown fruits
