Yesterday's Activity: Most of the fire area received rain yesterday, with the western and southwestern flanks getting between 0.10 and 0.25 inches. The rain, along with cloudy conditions throughout the day, produced minimal fire activity. Firefighters continued patrolling and mopping up along all completed containment lines, putting out any hot spots they found and began suppression rehabilitation efforts where needed. This includes pulling back dozer berms into fire lines and putting in water bars to lessen erosion. Crews continued construction of indirect fire line on the southwestern flank, where most of the uncontained line remains. They used natural barriers such as rocky outcroppings and areas where vegetation is minimal to make constructing lines easier and safer for the firefighters. Brushing out along the road in Timber Canyon on the southern flank continued, aided by the use of wood chippers.

Today,s Expected Activity: Firefighters will continue to construct indirect fire line on the uncontained southwestern flank. This is an area of the fire where a lot of bug killed timber is still standing and posing a threat to firefighters. Safety is always the number consideration in all operational activities, so crews are working around the edges of these trees to construct line and may burn out some of them to reduce the threat if conditions allow. Patrolling and mopping up of contained lines will continue on the northern flank of the fire aided by aerial resources if needed. Suppression repair will also continue where it can be successfully accomplished.

Weather: Weather today will be mostly cloudy with a slight chance of isolated thunderstorms across the fire area. Temperatures will be in the lower to mid mid-80’s and humidity will be 25-30 percent. Winds will be from the northwest at 8-15 mph with occasional gusts up to 25 mph.
