Volunteer Camp Hosts Needed

The Black Mesa District on the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forests are seeking motivated individuals or couples to fill several host positions in the Rim Lakes Recreation Area on the Mogollon Rim for the 2020 summer season. Hosts represent the Forest Service in public contacts with visitors by giving directions, explaining rules and regulations, answering questions, and providing information. They report vandalism and other problems to Forest Service personnel. They also perform minor maintenance, rake sites, clean fire rings and picnic tables, pick up litter, and inspect the campground, monitor sign boards and monitor area usage.

A host must work well with people, be personable, neat in appearance, and behave in a manner appropriate to the workplace. They will be required to be on site a minimum of 32 hours per week, especially on weekends and heavy use holidays. The host’s position involves walking, raking, shoveling and working outside in a variety of weather conditions. This may include standing, bending, twisting, carrying, and lifting.  An enclosed travel trailer or RV is required.  Water and trash pick-up are provided as well as a free campsite.  No hook ups are available.  Position is NOT required to collect fees from campers or visitors.  Hosting provides a wonderful opportunity to escape the heat of the valley and spend the summer in the cool mountain comfort of the Mogollon Rim and combines pleasure and relaxation with the enjoyment and stimulation of meeting new people.

Contact Stephanie Rainey at (928) 535-7341, or http://www.volunteer.gov/, or Stop by our office located at 2748 East Highway 260, Overgaard, AZ.

We hope you will consider becoming a part of our recreation team this summer!
