New District Ranger in Springerville

Springerville, AZ—July 23, 2018 For immediate release- Rob Lever, originally from Oregon in the Pacific Northwest, has accepted the offer to become the Springerville District Ranger on the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forests (ASNFs). He brings 25 years’ experience with him to the position. He has been with the ASNFs since May 2004 working on both the Clifton Ranger District and most recently the Springerville Ranger District.

He joined the Forest Service in 1993 as a firefighter on the Crescent Ranger District, Deschutes National Forest in Oregon. He earned a Bachelor’s Degree, at Linfield College in McMinnville, Oregon. Since that time Lever has worked on the Ochoco National Forest also in Oregon, Umpqua National Forest, National Forest of North Carolina, the Nez Perce-Clearwater National Forests in Idaho and here on the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forests.

Lever felt the Ranger position would give him an opportunity to use the leadership and organization skills he developed while in fire management. Lever says “A good leader should have a vision for the unit they supervise and be able to articulate the vision to the team”. He will work closely with the current staff and the public to continue to build the Springerville Ranger District. He envisions the shareholders and the district as having pride and gratification in the unit’s accomplishments and achievements.

Lever said, “I am excited for the opportunity to serve as the Springerville District Ranger.”
