Apache-Sitgreaves National Forests Lifts Emergency Safety Closure of East Fork Black River Campgrounds

Springerville, AZ—August 9, 2013—Diamond Rock, Aspen, and Deer Creek campgrounds onthe East Fork of the Black River and Forest Service Road (FSR) #276, between jct. with FSR 37 and Raccoon campground are open for recreation. The opening of this area is due to the removal of a debris slide on FSR #276.

The East Fork Campgrounds are a very popular area and the closure was necessary to ensure public safety and the safety to Forest Service personnel. We only close areas when it is absolutely necessary.

Campgrounds are reopened:

  • Diamond Rock
  • Aspen Campground
  • Deer Creek Campground

Road Opened:

  • Forest Service Road 276 Opened from the junction of Forest Service Road 37 to the barricades north/east of Raccoon Campground.

Remember if it is raining in this area flooding still can take place. Have fun while recreating and Look Up, Down and all around.
