Horse Deaths on the Black Mesa Ranger District
The Apache-Sitgreaves National Forests provided results from the initial investigation of horse deaths. The ASNF continued the investigation based on a tip from the public about a possible 5th deceased horse. The most up-to-date and verified information confirmed:
- 3 adult horses, including a mare in foal, found deceased on the scene.
- 1 foal seriously injured and was humanely euthanized by the Forest Service.
