Forest Service Officials Issue Maiden Peak – Jeff Davis Peak Closure Order

Dillon, MT September 22, 2020 – Officials for the Beaverhead-Deerlodge National Forest issued the Maiden Peak – Jeff Davis Peak Closure Order to be effective from September 22, 2020 and shall remain in effect for two years, until September 22, 2022, or until the order is rescinded, whichever occurs first.

This closure is necessary to implement the January 14, 2009 Beaverhead-Deerlodge National Forest Record of Decision for the Final Environmental Impact Statement and Revised Land and Resource Management Plan and February 12, 2010 Record of Decision Enacting Forest Plan Travel Management Direction for Certain Areas of the Beaverhead-Deerlodge National Forest.

The closure applies to all National Forest System (NFS) lands, roads and trails in the closure area, between May 16 and December 1 (summer non-motorized). The signed Closure Order, map and attachments are shown on the web,

Violation of these prohibitions is punishable by a fine of not more than $5,000 for an individual or $10,000 for an organization, imprisonment for not more than 6 months, or both. (16 U.S.C.

§551 and 18 U.S.C. §§ 3559, 3571 and 3581(b)(7)).
