Toilet Installation Proposed for Chief Joseph Parking Area

Contact(s): Leona Rodreick

The Wisdom Ranger District of the Beaverhead-Deerlodge National Forest is considering a proposal from the Bitterroot Cross-Country Ski Club to install an additional accessible vault toilet at the Chief Joseph Trailhead parking area. The trailhead is located approximately 23 miles west of Wisdom, adjacent to Montana Highway 43.

The current capacity of the existing toilet has been exceeded at the popular trailhead and trail system to adequately serve the needs of visitors. The club is pursuing a grant to purchase a new double-vault toilet which the Forest Service would install near the single-vault unit already on site.

Comments to this proposal should be submitted by April 18, 2014.  Comments should include: name; postal and email address; and phone number.  All comments will be considered part of the public record, and available for public review.
