Forest Service Temporarily Closes Campgrounds and Trailhead

Contact(s): Leona Rodreick

As summer progresses much work is occurring throughout the Wisdom and Wise River Ranger Districts to provide for the safety and well-being of forest visitors.  In the Beaverhead Mountains, South Van Houten campground will be temporarily closed Thu. July 28 to spray trees with Carbaryl in order to prevent mountain pine beetles from attacking the trees.  The campground will reopen on Fri. July 29.  Currently the seasonal closure on Darkhorse Road #7330 will be moved up the road to within one mile of Darkhorse Lake.  As snow melts and road conditions improve the closure will be moved up.

In the Pintler Mountains, Seymour trailhead will be closed Mon. July 25 for approximately two weeks in order to remove dead and dying trees affected by the mountain pine beetle.  Seymour Campground will be open and available for visitors to camp.
