How to Report a Fire

To report a fire, call Cody Intereagency Dispatch Center at 800.295.9954 or dial 911.

The dispatch center takes calls 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Or call any Bighorn National Forest office - offices are open Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, except federal holidays

It's helpful if you can report this information:

  • Location
  • Estimate of fire size
  • Distance and direction from the nearest landmark (town, trailhead, mountain peak)
  • Time the smoke was spotted
  • A description of the smoke (light, dark, heavy, wispy)
  • What's burning (grass, brush, timber)
  • Your name and contact number
  • Is anyone else at the scene
