The Bighorn National Forest, Powder River Ranger District, is seeking comments on the updated proposal for the Buffalo Municipal Watershed project.  A second opportunity to comment on the project has been released, concluding on May 10th.  The project seeks to conduct fuels reduction and other proposals to limit sediment and debris production in the municipal watershed in the event of a wildfire.

A public meeting is scheduled for April 20, 2018 from 4 to 6 pm at the Johnson Country Fire Hall, 790 Volunteer Lane, Buffalo.

The proposal includes mechanical timber harvest including clearcuts greater than 40 acres, non-commercial thinning, prescribed burns, aspen habitat improvement, road maintenance and decommissioning, and beaver habitat improvement.  Information is available on the Bighorn National Forest’s website at http://www.fs.usda.gov/projects/bighorn/landmanagement/projects .
