Hamilton, Montana – The Bitterroot National Forest is planning to replace a bridge over Deep Creek on the West Fork Ranger District.  The work is scheduled to begin, weather permitting, next week and continue for approximately two weeks.  The bridge is located at Hells Half Acre Road #224 at mile post 0.1.   Heavy equipment will be parked on the road making it impassable during construction.

Signs will be posted at the intersection of Nez Perce Road and Hells Half Acre Road alerting drivers to the replacement project.  The work will not affect floater traffic or travel to or from Paradise Campground along the Magruder Road Corridor.

Magruder Road to Elk City is currently closed at Observation Point due to snow.  Contact the West Fork Ranger District for road updates.

The new bridge will replace an existing bridge that is aged and needs to be upgraded.  The new structure will be able to pass flood waters as well as allow passage of aquatic organisms.
