Sundance, WY – Overnight camping is now allowed in Loop B at Cook Lake recreation area, located near Sundance, Wyoming.

A campground host is now present on site to provide assistance to guests, so the daytime use only restriction has been discontinued.

“Although the recreation area is open, a closure order is still in effect for the slide area on the southwest side of the lake.  Public use of the facility could change in the future due to heavy rainfall or rapid or uncharacteristic movement in the landslide,” said Steve Kozel, Bearlodge District Ranger.

Loop B has 15 camp sites now available for use. Fees to use the site are $6 for day use and $24 for overnight camping.

Forest officials will continue to monitor precipitation amounts, lake levels, and the landslide activity to make timely decisions about continued operations and use at the site.
