Assessment
The Carson NF has completed its Assessment Report. The assessment describes the current ecological, social, and economic conditions and trends of forest resources per the USDA Forest Service 2012 Planning Rule. An assessment report identifies and considers relevant and existing information contained in a variety of studies, plans, monitoring reports and other relevant information. The assessment helps to rapidly determine the sustainability of existing ecological, economic, and social conditions and trends in relationship to current land management. It summarizes key finding of risk on the forest and in the broader landscape. The assessment was used to help identify the need to change the existing 1986 Forest Plan. These are the resource areas (vegetation, water, soil, air, riparian areas, etc.) and benefits we provide which are at risk of not being sustainable now and into the future.
