Wilderness Inventory and Evaluation Process Public Involvement
Public participation for the Wilderness Inventory and Evaluation included a series of public meetings to provide information on the wilderness process, its steps, and to seek public comments on the Inventory and Evaluation steps.
In January 2016, the Carson National Forest held 3 meetings in Mora, Tierra Amarilla, and Taos to provide information on the wilderness process and to seek public comment on the Inventory process. In February 2016, and draft Inventory map was issued and the public was able to comment online, send in comments, or make comments in-person at districts. A Final Inventory map was issued in March 2016. Five public meetings describing the evaluation step and seeking public comment on evaluation process were held in April 2016. In June 2016, a draft Evaluation map was issued and the public was able to comment online, send in comments, or make in-person comments at district offices. Public comments have been reviewed and a revised Evaluation Map and Documentation are now available.
