TELLICO PLAINS, TENN, June 4, 2018 – Forest Service officials at the Cherokee National Forest announce that the Tellico River Kids Fishing Day is set for Saturday, June 9, 2018. This annual event is held in the Tellico Ranger District in Monroe County and offers the opportunity for children and their families to spend time together in the great outdoors.  Click here for complete news release.

The 2018 Tellico River Kids Fishing Day is for children 12 and under. The event will be held at the Pheasant Field Picnic Area, near the fish hatchery on the Tellico River. Registration begins at 5:30 am and fishing runs from 6:00 am - 9:00 am. All participants are requested to register. You may register any time before 9:00 am. You must register to receive a prize. The event is free of charge and prizes will be given away at the conclusion of the event.

The Tellico River Kids Fishing Day is a great way to enjoy nature at its finest, while letting the kids try their luck at catching trout. The area from the lower end of the Tellico River Fish Hatchery to the foot bridge approximately ¼ mile upstream will be reserved for kids only until 9:00 am. Tellico River Kids Fishing Day coincides with the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency’s free fishing day and participants do not need a license or permit for this event.
