Winter Storm Conditions - Cherokee National Forest

Contact(s): Unaka Ranger District (423) 638-4109

December 7, 2018:  Snow and rain are predicted for much of northeast Tennessee in the near future.  Because of the high probability of snow and inclement weather in the northern section of the Cherokee National Forest the Unaka Mountain Road - National Forest System Road 230 in Unicoi County has been closed.  The road will be repoened when conditions improve and it is safe for public use.

National Forest visitors should be mindful that most national forest roads are narrow and are dirt/gravel.  Motorists should exercise caution during inclement weather, especially during winter storm events.  Click here for full notice.
