BBVC Program Schedule

Campfire programs for 2017!

Join a Chugach National Forest ranger for the age-old tradition of gathering around a campfire to share stories. Campfire programs will occur throughout the summer months at 7pm on Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights at the Williwaw Campground. Each program will feature a different ranger sharing a different story about the inspiring landscape of the Chugach National Forest. This is a family-friendly activity for the young and the young-at-heart!

Byron Glacier Hikes

In addition to the campfire programs, we are offering Byron Glacier Hikes in 2017! This hike was formerly known as the Ice Worm Safari. Unfortunately, with the lack of snow in the winter of 2014/2015 and the warm temperatures of summer 2015, the snow pack where our local popualtion of Ice Worms could be easily found completely melted and the worms cannot survive without that perennial snow. Ice Worm Safaris are just not the same without the Ice Worms.

The Byron Glacier Hikes are similar in nature, and will continue to focus on the stories of the Chugach National Forest, but we will not be able to hunt for Ice Worms. Byron Glacier Hikes will take place throughout the summer months at 2pm on Friday and Saturday afternoon.
