Chugach National Forest Implements Stage 1 Fire Restrictions

Due to high fire danger and in partnership with Kenai National Wildlife Refuge and Kenai Peninsula State Parks on the Kenai, the Chugach National Forest is implementing stage 1 fire restrictions for Kenai Peninsula dispersed lands. Restrictions include building, maintaining, attending or using a fire or campfire, EXCEPT in a Forest Service developed camp or picnic ground. Cooking stoves and gas grills may still be used. Smoking is also included in the fire ban.* Remember that possessing, discharging or using any kind of fireworks or pyrotechnic device on Forest Service land is always prohibited.

For a complete list of stage 1 restrictions please refer to Forest Order No. 10-04-00-15-59.

National forest lands are very dry and conditions are ripe for human caused wildfires. Please follow fire restrictions so everyone can have a safe and memorable experience on their national forest.

*Smoking except within an enclosed vehicle or building, a developed campground, or other recreation site, or while stopped in an area in at least three feet in diameter, which is barren or cleared of all flammable material is prohibited by the fire ban.

See attached map for restriction area
