ORDER NO. 03-0619 Dog Head Fire Burn Area Temporary Closure

Pursuant to I 6 USC 55 I and Title 36 CFR 26 l.50(a) and (b), the following acts are prohibited within the area as described in this Order (the "restricted area") and as depicted on the attached map, hereby incorporated into this Order as Exhibit A, within the Mountainair Ranger District, Cibola National Forest and National Grasslands, Torrance County within the State of New Mexico.


  1. Going into or being upon the restricted area. 36 CFR 261.53(e)
  2. Being on the road. 36 CFR 261.54(e)


Pursuant to 36 CFR 261.50(e) the following persons are exempt from this Order:

l. Persons with a Forest Service permit specifically authorizing the otherwise prohibited act or om1ss1on.

  1. Any Federal, State, or local officer, or member of an organized rescue or fire fighting force in the performance of an official duty.
  2. Residents in the area accessing private property via a restricted Forest Service road to the extent necessary to gain access to their private property.


All National Forest System lands, roads, and trails within the boundaries described below and as depicted on the attached Exhibit A:

Roads affected by the closure area: Forest Road (FR) 260, FR 261D2, FR 261D lA, FR 261D3, FR 261D1, FR 263, FR 263A, FR 263D, FR 261D1, FR 263DC, FR 263D2, FR 263DB, FR 321, FR 321AE, FR 525, FR 525C, FR 525D, FR 525F, FR 525GFR, FR 1157.


The purpose of this Order is to protect the public's health and safety during fire rehabilitation activities.


  1. Any violation of this prohibition is punishable a Class B misdemeanor by a fine of not more than $5,000.00 for individuals and $10,000.00 for organizations, or by imprisonment for not more than six (6) months, or both. [Title 16 USC 551, Title 18 USC 3559, 3571 and 3581].

This Order supersedes, rescinds, and replaces any previous orders prohibiting the same acts covered by the Order.
