The 295-acre Mountainaire project will begin this morning just south of the Mountainaire community, which will help protect that community from wildfires that could begin in areas southwest of Mountainaire. Smoke will impact surrounding communities, motorists along Interstate 17 in the Mountainaire and Kachina Village area, and it is expected to disperse in a southerly direction. Smoke may settle in low lying areas during the evening hours and reduce visibility on I-17.
