Josh White Named Forest Supervisor

Colville National Forest Welcomes New Forest Supervisor – Josh White
 

Colville WA, August 3, 2023 – Josh White has been selected as the next Forest Supervisor for the Colville National Forest.  

White served in the US Army infantry from 1994 to 2002. After serving in the Army, Josh attended Boise State University where he earned a B.S. in Ecology and a master’s degree in Plant Community Ecology. Josh first worked for the Forest Service as an Invasive Species Coordinator in 2009.  He then served on the Wallowa Whitman National Forest as a rangeland management specialist, and later as a Supervisory Natural Resource Management Specialist. Josh joined the Colville National Forest in 2016 as the District Ranger for the Three Rivers Ranger District. For the past year, White has served as the Deputy Forest Supervisor and the past two months as the Acting Forest Supervisor for the Colville National Forest.

Josh’s rich history on the Colville National Forest includes leading the planning and implementation of two, first of their kind, A-Z stewardship projects. He also oversaw the first good neighbor timber sale in the state of Washington.  He was a representative on the Regional Line Officer Team for fire and temporarily served as the Deputy Forest Supervisor on the Williamette National Forest from February to June of 2021.  Josh was individually recognized when Colville National Forest was honored with the Chief’s and Undersecretary’s awards for setting a national standard for increased pace and scale of work to improve forest conditions.

White and his wife Stephanie have been married for 29 years. They live in Colville, and love living in a community where they can create lasting relationships and have an opportunity to give back.  They have one adult son, Kaleb, who lives in Spokane. White will officially start his new position on August 13, 2023.
