Hall Mountain Trail and Access Road Temporarily Closed

Release Date: May 9, 2018

NEWPORT, WASH. (May 8, 2018) – The Newport-Sullivan Lake Ranger Districts of the Colville National Forest announced a temporary closure of Forest Road 2200500 (Johns Creek Road) and Hall Mountain Trail (No. 540) for public safety. Crews will be removing hazard tress as a result of the 2017 Noisy Creek Fire.

Hall Mountain is still accessible via the Hall Mountain-Grassy Top Trail (No. 533), accessible from the Noisy Creek Trail (No. 588).

All trails, except for the Hall Mountain Trail (#540) east of Sullivan Lake, have been re-opened.

Through hikers and section hikers of the Pacific Northwest National Scenic Trail can now plan to use this alternative route as they traverse the northeast corner of Washington.

While the remainder of the trails around Sullivan Lake are open, areas of snow and muddy trail conditions are likely.

This temporary closure is in effect until crews complete their work; the anticipated completion date is November 15, 2018.

For more information, please contact the Newport Ranger Station at (509) 447-7300.
