2014 Nancytown Lake Fishing Rodeo for Kids

Calling all kids ages 2 to 15 years old!
Tell Mom and Dad and the rest of your friends & family you want to go fishing at the 2014 Nancytown Lake Kids Fishing Rodeo!

Registration is required. On-site registration begins at 8:00am the day of the event and fishing is allowed from 8:30 -11:30. But if you register early you'll have more time to fish on the day of the event. Registration forms are available at the Chattooga River Ranger District office or you can download the form here, print at home, fill it out, and turn it in when you arrive at the rodeo.

All children will be very likely to catch fish! Approximately 2,500-3,000 brook, brown and/or rainbow trout will be stocked in the lake just prior to the event only. In addition, bass, bream, crappie and catfish are found in the lake.

This event is only for kids 2 through 15 years of age only.

Only one rod and reel per child. The daily limits are : 8 trout, 10 bass, 50 bream, 30 crappie and no limit for catfish.

All fishing will be from the shore since boats are not allowed.

Parents or guardians can help small kid's fish, but cannot fish for them. Volunteers will be available to assist the kids.

Please be respectful of others around you!

If dangerous weather threatens, the rodeo will be called off and everyone will gather at the picnic shelter to give away the donated prizes.

Directions to Nancytown Lake Kids Fishing Rodeo

From Gainesville, take Hwy 441 North, just past Demorest, exit Hwy. 441 on right at next stoplight (large brown sign indicates Lake Russell Recreation Area), then take right turn on GA HWY 115.  Go about 3 miles to intersection with GA 123 and take right at stop sign.  Take GA 123 about 1 mile and take left at sign for Lake Russell Recreation Area.  Follow road for 2 miles and signs for Nancytown Fish Rodeo will direct visitors to the parking area.

From Clayton, take Hwy 441 South, and about 4 miles past the town of Hollywood, exit Hwy. 441 on left at stoplight (large brown sign indicates Lake Russell Recreation Area), then take right turn on GA HWY 115.  Go about 3 miles to intersection with GA 123 and take right at stop sign.  Take GA 123 about 1 mile and take left at sign for Lake Russell Recreation Area.  Follow road for 2 miles and signs for Nancytown Fish Rodeo will direct visitors to the parking area.
