San Bernadino Children's Forest

The San Bernadino Children’s Forest is the first Children's Forest in the United States on 3,400-acres of the San Bernardino National Forest. Kids work side by side with key Forest Service staff and other experts to manage the forest. Most recently they designed and built trails and accompanying interpretive exhibits to teach young people about the Forest.

The Children’s Forest offers a unique environmental education program and destination that offers many things to many people. They have a professional staff of eight, over 200 volunteers, reach over 12,000 people annually through various programs, manage an array of community and education partnerships, and host over 20,000 recreationists each year. Their reach extends throughout Southern California through partnerships and education programs. Children’s Forest is a national model for involving youth in land management initiatives.
