Coronado National Forest waives fees in honor of Veterans Day

Tucson, AZ, November 6, 2017 - For Immediate Release.  Coronado National Forest will waive fees at most day-use recreation sites on Nov. 11 and 12 in honor of Veterans Day.

 

All Coronado National Forest ranger district offices and the Forest Supervisor’s Office will be closed Nov. 10 in observance of the holiday, which honors the service of all who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces. The Sabino Canyon Visitor Center will remain open for business. Offices will return to normal business hours on Monday, Nov. 13.

 

The fee waiver program is offered in cooperation with other federal land management agencies under the Federal Lands Recreation Enhancement Act. Fees are waived generally for day-use areas, such as picnic grounds and developed trailheads. Concessionaire-operated sites may be included in the waiver if the permit holder wishes to participate.

No fees are charged at any time on 98 percent of national forests and grasslands, and approximately two-thirds of developed recreation sites in national forests and grasslands can be used free of charge.
