Coronado National Forest waives fees in honor of Veterans Day

Release Date: Nov 7, 2018

Fees waived at day-use sites Nov. 10 and 11

Tucson, AZ, November 6, 2018 - For Immediate Release.  Coronado National Forest will waive fees at most day-use recreation sites on Saturday, November 10 and Sunday, November 11 for Veterans Day, which honors the service of all who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces.

The nationwide fee waiver event is offered in cooperation with other federal land management agencies under the Federal Lands Recreation Enhancement Act. Fees are waived generally for day-use areas such as picnic grounds and developed trailheads. The waiver does not apply to overnight campgrounds, group use fees or fees charged at concession-operated facilities.

No fees are charged at any time on 98 percent of national forests and grasslands, and approximately two-thirds of developed recreation sites in national forests and grasslands can be used free of charge.

Active duty military members can obtain a free Interagency Annual Military Pass that waives fees year-round at all Forest Service, Bureau of Land Management, National Park Service, and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service sites charging entrance or standard amenity fees, excluding concessionaire-operated sites.
